ABOUT SILIGURI GOVERNMENT RAILWAY POLICE DISTRICT

About : Siliguri GRP

The Siliguri Government Railway Police (GRP) District has been operational since April 9, 1964, following its establishment through the bifurcation of the Sealdah GRP District. The Siliguri GRP oversees a jurisdiction spanning 869.6 kilometers, which includes the areas of three railway divisions (Malda, Katihar, Alipurduar), three adjoining states (Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand), seven districts (SMP, Darjeeling, Islampur PD, Raiganj PD, Malda, Balurghat, Murshidabad), International Borders & Indo Bangladesh Railway Line:

1.            Haldibarie  -   Chilahati

2.            Radhikapur-  Biral

3.           Singhabad -  Rahanpurthree

 

For optimal functioning, the Siliguri Government Railway Police District is organized into nine Police Stations (GRPS), nine GRP Investigation Centers (GRPIC), and nine Railway Station (R/S) Camps. It is tasked with making every necessary effort to prevent and detect crime, maintain law and order, and ensure the safety and security of general public traveling by trains within its jurisdiction. Additionally, it investigates crimes occurring on the railway tracks within its designated area. Currently, Siliguri GRP is under the proficient leadership of Dr. Kunwar Bhushan Singh , IPS.
